Virtual Sports V. "Real World" Sports

1. After investigating what "real" sports franchises do to help promote their teams, what ideas do you have that you would like to use to help promote your franchise? Why do you think these are important?

2. When thinking about ticket prices, as a franchise owner, would you be happy or upset that websites like Stubhub are available for people to buy and sell tickets to your events? Why or why not?

  2. 1.) I think i will use the internet, cable, and radio promotions to get my football team noticed in the franchise game.
2.)That would make me mad that some one is selling my tickets for a cheaper cost then they are originally worth, because i would be losing money.

  3. 1. By having different items promoted at different games. If my team is doing well and i have a big game coming up i will promote a certain item, and if a certain player is doing well i will be sure to promote him on local radio stations and on T.V. just as i will be promoting my franchise. These things are important because you have to promote your franchise so people know about you in the community and promote certain players so the community knows about them and people will want to come watch them.

    2. I would be upset with websites like Stubhub because people won't want to by from me if they can get the same tickets for a cheaper price.

Basically try anything to get our name out there. Such as doing commercials with various mediums. Do fund raising for the rain forest and make sure people know that it is our business doing the fund raising. If people do not know about your existence then it is impossible to come.

    2. Good news is that our business does not have a cap on the number of people we allow, so this is not relevant to us.

that when you play a certain team, and they have a good record, make ticket prices a little higher, since it is a better game, and maybe lower tickets a little if its against a team that has a bad record.

not really, because to buy them in the first place to resell, they have to buy them from us for our price, so we will still be getting our money, but it still wouldn't exactly make us "happy".

  8. 1. My franchise team would obviously have programs set up to help the local community such as breast cancer awareness, or help homeless people by providing food and giving them jobs. These examples of promotions would definitely make our franchise more famous and get more people's attention. We would also have commercials about the franchise or preview a big game coming up on television so that more people would know more about it and come to the game. These are important because there would be a lot more people at the game and the franchise would get better profits.

    2. I don't think it really matters, people have to originally purchase tickets from me at a fixed price and my franchise wouldn't really care what they do with the tickets!

  9. 1. I will promote my franchise by using Radio, Commercials, Posters, and doing activity's like helping people and putting on things people like to eat(example: KFC bucket, McDonalds, Subway, Etc.) I think this is important because it will show that the team cares for people and it will make the team more popular.

2.I would be upset because of the people getting more money from the tickets. The business does get the money so it wouldn't matter that much.

  10. 1. I would use the media first (like TV, radio, newspaper, etc) to get the name out there. Then when I start gaining profit and I can afford to give away promotional items away for free and giving to charity’s. this is important because it helps your franchise. You can’t make money if no one knows who you are.

    2. Yes. Because either way my tickets are selling out. But then again, stub hub might be making more money then I am. Which is ovbiously BAD.

  11. 1.) I would probably use like different commercials, and the radio with advertising. I think they are important because its speaks out to all the different people and fans.
2.) I would be mad because those people would be getting a better profit then i did when its my own tickets that im selling.

  12. To all of you who have posted so far great job! I enjoyed reading your thoughts about what you would do to promote your teams in the upcoming competition! Maranda you are right on-you can't make any money if no one knows who you are!

Paul, I really lilke your perspective on the Stub Hub tickets sales. I thought much like the other students; however, your idea brings a whole new light on the topic for me. Great job!

  13. I would help the community my team is in.So the people will know your not there just to make money off them.

I would be upset because the tickets are being sold cheaper than what i put them as and I don't make as much money.

  14. 1. First of all, I would want to pick the most appealing promotions, because if you just pick the cheap promotions, you could be promoting in a way that will end up making you lose money, because people don't like some of the lower costing promotions; instead, I would pick the high appealing promotions, even if some are more expensive. I think that you can find a balance of your costs and what comes out of it.

    2. I would not like websites like StubHub having tickets available when I do not. While I am still getting the money from the original ticket sale, the scalper is sometimes getting much more money that what I could have sold it to a person for if I still had the tickets (the scalper didn't buy).

  15. 1. I would use t.v commercials, radio promotions, and newspaper/internet ads to attract attention to my franchise. I would also invest in public relations to gain more attention.

    2. I would be upset that sites like Stubhub are selling our tickets at a lower price and bringing down our profit.

  16. 1.I would use the TV, internet, billboards, and radios to get attention to my franchise and to get it out there for people to see.

    2. I wouldn't want stubhub to have mine on the internet because if people were to sell my tickets for less, i wouldn't be very happy with that.

  17. 1. I would use TV ads, internet ads, billboards, and also radio ads. I would use these to help get the name out there and get people's attention.

    2. I wouldn't be very happy, because on sites like that people would be able to get tickets for less then they are actually sold.

  18. 1. I would use internet, radio, billboards, tv adds and newspaper adds.
    2. I wouldn't get too upset because people are still coming to our games and buying stuff there.

  19. 1. I believe that I will use TV ad's, radio ad's, and Internet ad's to help promote my team.

    2. I would be upset because i would not be making as much money as I could be because others are purchasing their tickets for less at stubhub.

  20. I think having an actual name for your games like the blackhawks have "party town" because its atractive and leads people to come. This is important because since it is leading people to your games it will help your sales also.

2.If i was getting money out of stubhub i wouldnt care but if theyre getting all the money i dont think its fair.

I definitely think that we need to come up with a catchy name that's easily remembered by people and we just need to advertise like crazy because if we don't then our awareness will be so low that there's no chance of us making a high profit.

    2. When thinking about ticket prices, as a franchise owner, would you be happy or upset that websites like Stubhub are available for people to buy and sell tickets to your events? Why or why not?
I wouldn't really care that much because there are a lot of other ways that my franchise can make money that no one else can make money off of and as long as the tickets get paid for (as long as they aren't getting them free from me) then it wouldn't make much of a difference.
